Madonna’s Celebration Tour has come to an end.

But not before her last show left everyone talking.

On May 4, Madonna and her crew, which includes several of her children, took the stage at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach. And it turned out to be a historic show.

Not because it was free, but because 1.6 million people showed up to enjoy the music. Yes, 1.6 million.

According to TMZ, the most people Madonna has ever played a live show in front of was 130,000 people, which took place in 1987 in Paris. This show blows that record out of the water.

According to Rolling Stone, the free set a record for ‘the largest audience ever for a stand-alone concert by any artist in history.” And it marked Madonna’s first time performing in Brazil since 2012.

Live Nation dubbed Copacabana Beach “the world’s largest dancefloor” during the May 4th show. As Rolling Stone reports, Madonna sang many of her biggest hits and surprised fans by bringing out Brazilian singer Anitta during the “Vogue” portion of the concert.

Just a few days ago, Madonna opened up about what it has been like touring with four of her children.

As she revealed, four of her six children have caught the performance bug and have been known to dance and play alongside their famous mother.

As she told her millions of followers, “on the day before our 80th show of the Celebration Tour, I need to acknowledge my incredibly talented children who carried me through this Journey each of them bringing their own unique talent to the stage.”

“I think what my children learned the most this year of rehearsing and performing is that if you want to follow your dreams, you have to work hard for them,” the iconic star added.

“And if all of them choose something different later in life, they will never forget this year of blood, sweat, and tears. Nor will I. It’s a CELEBRATION.”
