The mom who searched for her unborn child’s name at a cemetery has revealed her search has come to an end.
Haley Hodge went viral earlier this year when she shared a video of herself walking around a cemetery looking at headstones.
She revealed her reason for visiting and walking around the cemetery is because she was looking to get inspired. Haley is pregnant with a baby girl and she was at a loss as to what she was going to name her.
In May, Haley revealed that her sister’s name came from someone’s gravestone and now she’s carrying on that tradition.
“When cemeteries hold the prettiest names, so you take the family to look for baby girl’s name,” she explained in her first video.
They liked James, Fisher, Julian, Ella, Vienna, Galloway, and many more. But now, the Hodge family is finally revealing the name they ultimately stumbled upon and chose.
In a new video, Haley is seen putting flowers on the gravestone that lent the inspiration, revealing that the name they chose is Salem.
Salem means “peaceful, safe, complete,” Haley revealed, adding that it provides a “family water connection by being named after a 34.7 mile-long tributary of the Delaware River.
From what Haley gathered on the man’s headstone, he was a “man who was in the US Coast Guard and WWII. “He was married and did not have any children of his own.”
“Hopefully he will be okay with being an honorary grandpa to our baby girl,” Haley wrote. “Thank you, Salem, for inspiring us to bring new life to your name.”
In the comments, Haley added that while she knows it may be a “slim chance,” she asked if “anyone has any info on his family members,” adding that she would love to reach out.
She then asked those following her journey to share some middle name inspiration. Some of the middle names suggested were Rose, Elizabeth, Cove, and Victoria.
Would you consider this form of inspiration?
