Recently, a mom of three found out she was pregnant again.
But when this pregnant mom, Stephanie Yang, shared her exciting news during a recent OBGYN check-up, she said she left her appointment in tears after her nurse’s response.
The 27-year-old took to Facebook to vent her frustrations after her visit to Dr. Camilla L. Marquez’s office. Yang told The Fresco Bee a nurse practitioner allegedly shamed her for her fourth pregnancy.
Yang claims that she was met with “disdain” and “judgment” last week when she sought prenatal care at the Fresno office. Yang explained:
“The first thing she said is, ‘You’re here again’ and I was embarrassed.”
She continued:
“[I said] ‘Yes, I am, but this will be our last baby.’”
The nurse practitioner allegedly responded:
“’Well, you said that last time, didn’t you?’ and ‘You do realize that children are a big responsibility.'”
In a Facebook video published Saturday the mom, who is a teacher, said:
“The worst experience of my life.
A baby is a blessing no matter what, but that’s not how I felt after this recent appointment.”

The video prompted several other patients to share about alleged similar experiences at the practice.
On Yelp and Facebook, some women also wrote about their “horrible experience” with staff at the office.
One woman named, Michelle Medina, told the Bee, she had experienced two miscarriages when she was treated by the nurse in question. During a visit, she was reportedly scorned for her weight. Medina said:
“She made my losses feel like they were my fault for being ‘obese.’ When I was a little overweight, not obese.”
Yahoo reached out to Marquez for comment. Her spokesperson declined to speak about the allegations.
Yang has since changed doctors she said:
“Whether it’s my sixth child or my first child, I think we’re all important.
Every mother is important no matter how many babies she’s had before. I think that we’re meant to feel special and cared about.”
One commenter supporting Yang on Facebook said the pregnant mother didn’t need a lecture.
She was looking for an OBGYN, not a counselor.
