Prince Harry has shared a rare tidbit about his two children he shares with Meghan Markle.
While at the WellChild Awards in London on Sept. 30, Prince Harry presented an award to the “youngest winner” and shared a few words with the audience.
Harry applauded parents and caretakers for all they do for the children in their lives who are battling various health issues.
“As a parent, I know a little about the emotional rollercoaster of parenting. But when I hear about the care that many of you mums, dads and family members provide, I am truly in awe,” he said.
Off the stage, Hello! magazine reported that from the moment harry “arrived in the reception room, he had an infectious energy about him, and there were no airs and graces at all as he chatted animatedly about his own children ahead of the event,” Hello! chief content officer Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon wrote.
According to Vokes-Dudgeon, Harry revealed the trait his two children, son Archie, and daughter Lilibet inherited from their mom.
“‘Archie and Lili have been blessed with their mother’s thick hair,’ he told us, self-effacingly, as he marveled that it ‘won’t be long until Lili can sit on hers.’”
Since moving out of London and into California four years ago, Harry and Meghan have sheltered Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, from the public eye. Not many photos of their kids have been shared publicly.
However, in a 2023 interview with late night talk show host Stephen Colbert, Harry did reveal that both of his children inherited his red hair.
“I actually really thought in the beginning of my relationship that—should this go the distance and we have kids—there is no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes,” he said at the time. “But I was wrong!”
In a statement shared with People just days before his 40th birthday, Harry revealed he rang in his 4th decade with his family. “The best gift I’ve ever been given is, without doubt, my kids. I enjoy watching them grow every single day and love being their dad,” Harry said.
On Sept. 13, he told the BBC, “I was anxious about 30, I’m excited about 40. Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world.”
