Tristan Thompson is reflecting on some of the poor decisions he has made in his life and how those decisions could be perceived by his children as they grow older and form their own opinions. One of his biggest fears is that his children will be ‘embarrassed’ to call him their father when they grow older.
The 32-year-old NBA player expressed that fear during a conversation he had with Khloe Kardashian in an episode of The Kardashians. For those who don’t know, Tristan and his disabled 17-year-old brother were living with Khloe while Tristan’s house was under construction, but he’s on his own now.
During an episode of The Kardashians, Tristan was giving Khloe an update on the construction of his home. He said he can’t wait for her to see the finished product, to which she agrees – adding that he has been a great house guest, but she’d rather be on her own. “I still need my space. I love being alone,” she responded.
Khloe Kardashian took it upon herself to help Tristan Thompson in a moment of need, but she doesn’t want him to feel misled by her generosity – which is why she’s making it clear that their romance is over and she’s strictly helping him as a friend. Nonetheless, Tristan appears to be appreciative of her help.
“Seriously though, thank you for letting me crash here while my roof crashed to the floor,” Tristan says to Khloe with the cameras rolling. He goes on to explain some of the changes he’s making in his life to be a better role model for his children, but understands that there are some things he can’t take back or undo.
“It wasn’t until I really had to look at myself. I never had to hold myself accountable. We’re taught, ‘Be the man, do what you please, bros before hoes …'” he explains in Thursday’s episode. “You gotta just be your own man and don’t care what people think and don’t feel like you have to get validation from others.”
Tristan has four children – Prince, 6, True, 5, Theo, 1, and Tatum, 1. Now that his children are getting older, he knows it’s only a matter of time before they understand who their father is and the mistakes he has made. “The last thing I ever want them to do is feel embarrassed that I’m their father,” he says.
And now he’s been suspended from the NBA. The basketball star was suspended after failing a drug test. According to the NBA, Thompson reportedly violated the league’s anti-drug program after he tested positive for two banned substances; ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033. As punishment for breaking the rules, Thompson has been hit with a 25-game suspension.
Tristan Thompson Criticized by Eldest Son’s Aunt
Despite cheating on Khloe Kardashian on several occasions during their time together, the Kardashian family continues to shower Tristan Thompson with love and support. In Thursday’s episode, both Khloe and her sister, Kim Kardashian, praise Tristan as a good friend and an even better father to his children.
Unfortunately, that’s not what everyone thinks. He was recently the victim of an online attack by his eldest son’s aunt – the sister of Jordan Craig, whom he shares Prince with. She accused Tristan of not showing up for his son, not paying tuition or child support, and spending most of his time with his other children.
“The fact that he can take other children to school and activities in the same city, yet never sees or speaks to his own son, unless it’s for a party or planned photo opportunity, is appalling and inexcusable,” Prince’s aunt wrote. She also called Kim out for defending Tristan’s character, which she is questioning.

The criticism is just the latest turmoil in Tristan Thompson’s life. He lost his mother to a sudden heart attack on January 5, had the roof of his home collapse shortly after, and has been taking care of his disabled younger brother now that his mother is gone – all while preparing for another season in the NBA.
